FAQ

Below are answers to some common questions that clients and potential clients may have. If there is a question you have that is not answered here or if you would like more information, please use our Contact page.

What insurance or forms of payment do you accept?

Vance Creek is currently contracted with Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program and the Comprehensive Community Service Program. You can find more information on how to access those programs here. We also accept private pay individuals who wish to pay with cash or check.

Will weather impact my session?

Yes-if there is inclement weather the session will be held in the heated barn.  The client will have full access to the horses, with a variety of activities on the ground.

What should I wear to my session?

Wear appropriate outdoor gear that is consistent with current weather conditions.  Bring winter boots, hat, gloves or mittens during cold weather.  Even on the hottest day long pants and closed toed shoes are required.  No sandals or shorts.

Cancellation policy

Vance Creek should be notified as soon as possible if the client is unable to attend. There is no cancellation fee or CCS or CLTS Waiver Program recipients.  However, due to the current waitlist, two or more cancellations in a row will result in that client being waitlisted.  Exceptions will apply by case basis. Cash clients will pay a $50 rebooking fee before next session is scheduled.

Am I expected to ride a horse?

No, we are one of the only sites in the area that offer an independent riding experience.  However, the client must be physically fit enough to mount the horse independently.  Clients not interested in mount work are offered a rich, meaningful experience on the ground with the horses.

Do I need prior horse experience?

No, horse experience is not necessary.  Learning about the horses is a very rewarding experience.

Do I need to bring anything?

An attitude that is willing to learn and grow.
